Victorian Drama in Alexander McQueen’s Fall 2012 Collection
For Alexander McQueen’s latest collection, British designer Sarah Burton decided to combine two unrelated influences: a very Victorian style and the brand’s iconic street wear prints. What we saw on the catwalk was a very romantic style with a masculine touch, which evokes the fall 2012 men’s collection: smoking jackets, blazers, leather trims, leggings with exposed zippers, back buttons, high neck cuts, and so on.
McQueen’s unmistakable style is an intrinsic part of this collection, with silk shirts boasting brightly colored bird prints, scarves with Victorian prints, statement accessories, and more. An apparition that we really loved was that of a beautiful dress adorned with safety pins , studs and metallic beads, which successfully embodied both the grandeur of the Victorian age and the freshness of today’s world.
