The Most Expensive Piece of British Sculpture to Be Sold

The work of the artist Henry Moore becomes the most expensive piece of British sculpture to be sold.The sculpture was auction at a total of £135 million.But it broke all the records when it managed to get a price of  £19.1 million .The auction took place into the saleroom at Christie’s in London and it hosted and a war for Moore’s Reclining Figure Festival, commissioned by the Arts Council for the Festival of Britain in 1951.In 2008 was sold another scupture by Damien Hirst’s The Golden Calf but with a price of £10.3 million.

The artist Henry Moore died in 1986 at the age of 88 .Draped Reclining Woman which also a work of Henry was sold in 2008 with a price of £4.3 million .Christie’s original estimate was £3.5 million. “This is an Olympic special for the year of Britain .”We knew this Festival Hall bronze was extraordinary but we could not be sure what it would make,”said a spokesman.
