Samos is a Greek island located in the northern Aegean Sea near the coast of Turkey, which lies between the southern island of Chios, north of Patmos and the Dodecanese island group. The island is the birthplace of Pythagoras Greek philosopher and mathematician, astronomer Aristarchus of and of Samos (it was first launched the idea that the Earth revolves around the sun). The island can be reached by ferry from Turkey (Kusadasi). The trip takes two hours, and boats run only during the summer season. Samos is the place where the ancient fortified port and the temple of the goddess Hera Pythagóreion included in the UNESCO World Heritage. Pythagóreion is an ancient port built on time, with Greek and Roman monuments, including the aqueduct Eupalinian (or tunnel of Eupalinos). It is only 10-15 minutes walk from Pythagóreion. The island offers plenty of beaches to explore, such as swimming and sunbathing are the activities. A lot of bars and cafes offer food and drink lovers of sun.
