Stunning Three Sisters Rock Formation in Australia
The breathtakingly beautiful Three Sisters rock formation is a part of the Blue Mountains of New South Wales in Australia, and it can be found in close proximity to Katoomba, right above the Jamison Valley. The Three Sisters are called Gunnedoo, Wimlah and Meehni, each boasting heights of 2972, 3011 and 3024 feet respectively.
According to Aboriginal legends, the Three Sisters rock formation actually represents 3 sisters that were turned to stone. In reality, the landmark was formed by erosion, since the sandstone of the Blue Mountains can easily be shaped by the elements over long periods of time. Tourists can reach the Three Sisters via a bushwalking trail that can be found at Echo Point. The landmark as well as the valley that it overlooks can both be visited by going down a series of stone and steel steps called “The Giant Stairway”, but if the tourists are willing to go even further, they can easily reach the stunning Katoomba Falls.
The Three Sisters represents one of the most spectacular sights in New South Wales, and if you take the time to visit them during your travels, you will definitely be struck by their unique shape and imposing size.
