Spectacular Sochi Petrograd Limited Edition Watch by Omega
Just in case you weren’t aware, the 2014 Winter Olympics will be taking place in the city of Sochi in Russia, and in commemoration of this incredible event, Swiss luxury watchmaker Omega decided to create the stunning Sochi Petrograd Limited Edition timepiece.
This watch boasts a vintage design inspired by an art deco-style Omega watch from 1915, and so it boasts a barrel-shaped case first seen on watches of the 1910s and 1920s, when watchmakers were trying to experiment with different shapes other than circular ones. Omega also states that the original 1915 timepiece that mirrors the Sochi Petrograd was made for an unnamed Russian leader, but it somehow managed to return to its makers in mint condition during the Russian Revolution of 1917.
The Omega Sochi Petrograd will be produced as part of a limited edition of just 100 units, each flaunting a stunning 18k yellow gold case paired with a gorgeous burgundy strap. The dial boasts the colors of the Russian flag as well as Arabic numerals, while the power comes from an Omega caliber 2202 automatic Co-Axial movement.
Highly exclusive, this incredible masterpiece of micro engineering and vintage design will surely become one of the most sought after timepieces in the world.
