Spectacular Mercedes-Benz CLA45 AMG
The amazing Mercedes-Benz CLA45 AMG was unveiled at the 2013 New York Auto Show, and it is truly a stunning automobile on all accounts, flaunting great looks and extreme performance capabilities. Even though it is powered by a mere 4-cylinder 2.0-liter engine, this car is overwhelmingly powerful thanks to a turbocharger that helps it deliver 450 Nm of torque and 360 horsepower.
This means that it is able to reach an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h), and perform a 0-62mph sprint in 4.6 seconds. It also boasts great mileage, with an average fuel consumption of 6.9 – 7.1 l/100 km (40.9 UK mpg), while producing between 161 and 165 g/km of CO2 emissions. So there you have it! With substantial power, good mileage and low emissions, this car seems to be almost perfect. The thing is, though, that those hoping to drive it on a track will be disappointed to find out that the CLA45 AMG will only have an AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7-Speed sports transmission (not a manual).
Visually speaking, the car sports a beautifully looking body kit that includes a new rear bumper with integrated diffuser, a twin blade radiator grille, a new front apron, large ride skirts and a pair of chrome-plated twin tailpipes with exhaust flap at the rear.
To tell you a little bit about the engine, it features the NANOSLIDE cylinder wall technology along with a pray-guided direct petrol injection system using piezo injectors. Furthermore, the turbocharger can generate a maximum pressure of 1.8 bars, and the cooling is done using an air-water change system.
The vehicle is packed with state-of-the-art technology including three driving modes dubbed Controlled Efficiency, Manual and Sport (C, M and S); along with a 4MATIC system that ensures a torque ratio of 50:50 between the two axels. There is also a 3-stage ESP complemented by the ESP Curve Dynamic Assist. The braking system flaunts 350 x 32 mm disks at the front and 330 x 22 mm ones at the rear. Speed-sensitive steering along with an independent sports suspension is also part of the deal.
No word on the price just yet, but we do know that the Mercedes-Benz CLA45 AMG will be available for sale in July.
