Red Is Definitely a Favorite this Fall
Powerful and eye catching, red is a wonderful color that the cold season has brought to nature and on the catwalk. It’s a symbol of passion, love, fire and blood, and it always sends powerful messages to the onlookers. This year’s fall collections have brought this powerful hue to everybody’s attention: elegant, in surprising cuts, with mesmerizing patterns – everything goes!
They say that in a paining, the first shape that draws the attention is the one painted in red. Consequently, this is not a color for the shy, It’s bold and it calls for a strong attitude. Kenzo suggests wearing retro deux-pieces in red, while Jil Sanders proposes more minimalist creations, such as lapel-less coats. A must-have of the season is the red high-waist skirt, especially if combined with a cozy sweater. Red and black combinations are also excellent choices this fall.
House of Holland is very fond of houndstooth patterns, and their creations are very strong too: combining red with purple, orange, and other bright colors. Also masters of prints were Miu Miu, Christopher Kane, and Mary Katrantzou. For street wear Diane von Fürstenberg presented a military-inspired yet very feminine red coat, while Comme des Garçons suggests a more dramatic and sculptural cut. The most staggering appearance of all, however, was that of Alexander McQueen’s majestic red dress made entirely out of feathers. What will be your red choice this fall?
