Melissani Cave,Magic Blue of Greece
Melissani Cave is located on the east coast of the island of Kefalonia in Greece, 2 km away from the town of Sami and 10 km from Argostoli.The place is unique in the world because caves filled with blue water flows from underground surrounded by forests and a coast of the mountain bordering it to the west, forming spectacular scenery.
The cave was discovered in 1951 and opened to the public in 1963.The secret of this beauty is a earthquake which made the land surface collapsed .In Greek mythology, Melissani was nymphs cave. Inside the cave is the most spectacular lake on the island. Cave, divided into two rooms, came to form today’s model B, two corridors filled with water and an island in the middle.Melissani cave is 100 m long, the lake occupies a third of its surface. Lake water is brackish water, a mixture of sea water and fresh water.Crystal clear water and cave walls bring thousands of tourists here.
