Meet the New Big Truck on the Block, the Mercedes G36 6×6
Brabus, an interesting mix of a company that sales cars as well as tunes them, has created something of a monster. The new Mercedes G36 AMG 6×6 is part truck, part Mercedes, part monster truck, and it has an eerie look about it that makes me think of an 18-wheeler. Brabus says this is a powerkit modification that increases the output of the 5.5-liter V8 biturbo engine to 700 hp and 960 Nm of torque, turning this beast into more than just a looker. It’s got some serious power now. With that much torque, the G36 AMG 6×6 can accelerate from zero to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 7.4 seconds. Now, that’s not even close to supercar status, but again, this thing is huge, and it has 6 tires. Being in the single digits is an accomplishment worth mentioning here. Other additions of the powerkit include a repogrammed ECU, a sport exhaust, and other more minor performance upgrades to the engine.
The body is primarily constructed out of carbon fiber in an attempt to bring the weight down as much as possible. Wider wheel arches, a modified hood, air vents, a dastardly new front grill, and other aesthetic pieces make the powerkit not only fuctionaly, but stylish. Brabus sets the price of the Mercedes G36 AMG 6×6 at €456,900, with only 20 to 30 units to be built. So, chances are you won’t be able to get your hands on one, but if you do, make sure to take some pictures for us, and post them at the bottom as a comment.
The looks of this vehicle are enough to blow anyone away, but it’s really the attention to detail that gets me. The carbon fiber body reflects light perfectly, and the wheels supplement the charm for some grit, while the brand of the car screams luxury. Well done Brabus, well done.
