Massive Second Avenue Subway in New York City
Even though it’s been officially under construction for the past 8 decades, the Second Avenue Subway in New York City is still not complete. Nonetheless, the project is still very much alive apparently, since Manhattan’s underground is set to receive the last framework for the subway this spring.
The empty spaces that were carved beneath this massive metropolis are gradually being filled as the remarkable steel and concrete superstructure grows larger and larger. This very important project required immense manpower and an overwhelming amount of funds as you can probably imagine, but it will all be worth it in the end as result will undoubtedly be a masterpiece of architecture and engineering.
If you would take the time to have a look at the following images, you’d be able to catch a glimpse of this monumental construction project. Huge steel beams, a seemingly unending amount of concrete, elevators, ladders and impressive machinery can all be observed up close.
