Lake Como – A Wonderful Destination in Italy
One of the many beauties of Italy is the famous Lake Como located in Lombardy. It’s huge and breathtakingly beautiful, which explains why it’s been a favorite of the wealthy since Roman times. It is dotted with numerous cultural and artistic attractions, including historical villas that date back to the 1st century A.D.
This is one of those places that have it all: excellent weather, clean fresh air, mountains and water. It can be visited both in summer and in winter, with average temperatures ranging from 36°F (2°C) in January to 86°F (30°C) in July. There are excellent skiing areas nearby and we suggest you also include Switzerland’s awesome slopes in your journey.
During the warm season make sure you enjoy at least one boat trip and that you get somewhere up to discover some really breathtaking panoramas. You could take the funicolare (a hillside trolley) to Brunate, from where you can admire the Alps and the lake.
The 56 square mile lake is an excellent place for water sports such as kite surfing or water skiing. In the meantime, the mountains await you with long and exciting trails, so there’s pretty much no chance to get bored here. And the small towns along Lake Como are always ready to enchant you with delicious gelato and other treats. Finally, make sure you also visit some important villas and their stunning gardens.
