Karl Lagerfeld – A Fashion Legend
As one of the most talented and famous fashion designers of German descent, Karl Lagerfeld was born in Hamburg, and even though he never officially revealed any information regarding his birth date, most sources concur that he came to this world on September 10, 1933. From an early age, Karl was lured towards fashion and design, and many say that he often criticized or applauded what others would wear at school. However, it wasn’t until he was 14 that he decided to move to Paris in pursuit of his dream.
It didn’t take him long to achieve success, as his sketches and design ideas allowed him to win several competitions, which enabled him to become an important figure for many fashion houses such as Chloe and Fendi. During the 1980s, Lagerfeld was one of the most famous fashion designers in the world, even though he had a reputation of joining and parting ways with different brands on a regular basis.
After rejuvenating the Chanel brand in 1980, Karl founded his own fashion house in 1984, which became well known for its high quality, modern and innovative products. In 2005, Lagerfeld made the decision to sell his company to Tommy Hilfiger, but he is still keeping himself quite busy to this day by collaborating with some of the most appreciated fashion houses of our times.
