Japan’s JR East to Launch a Luxury Train Service by 2016
The Japanese are well vested in the art of combining luxury with technology, which is why it came as no surprise when JR East unveiled their plans for a luxury train service that will operate between Tohoku and Shinetsu.
The train is scheduled for its first departure in spring 2016, and its interiors as well as its exterior layout will be sketched out by Ken Okuyama, a famed industrial designer that has worked with many other famous brands such as Tag Heuer, Pinifarina and Ferrari.
A trip would last two nights and three days, all for a price of $2000. Each car will boast deluxe suites packed with high-end amenities, and guests will also be able to enjoy fantastic dining and lounging experiences.
