Historic Space Suite for Dogs to Go on Auction Block
A small piece of canine Soviet history is going to soon be put up for auction in Berlin. It’s an authentic bodysuit for dogs, manufactured in 1950 for space training. It was created by RSC Energia, a Russian spacecraft manufacturer, and it comes with a helmet and breathing system.
Being a lace-up piece, it can be adjusted to different dog sizes, but we sure hope the buyer is not going to actually dress up their pet with it. The bodysuit is made of cotton, rubber, nylon and aluminum pieces and measures 11 x 23.5 x 8 inches. It is one of the few to have survived to this day, and one of the very first as well. This kind of explains why it is expected to fetch some $10,000 at auction on September 13 in Berlin.
