First Ever 3D Printed Dress is Worn by Dita Von Teese
Dita Von Teese is one celebrity that never shied away from boldness and sporting edgy designs. Her love of vintage is probably what made her into the style icon she is today. The burlesque star was recently seen wearing an unusual yet innovative gown at a private runway event that was held at the Ace Hotel in New York. The nylon dress was designed by Michael Schmidt and Francis Bitonti and is the first ever 3D printed gown. The designers allegedly have a whole line of such 3D printed garments that will most likely attract customers that don’t have an issue with stepping out of their comfort zone when it comes to clothing.
The two above mentioned designers collaborated via the internet, as they live in different sides of the world. They brainstormed through Skype from their iPads, designed the gown and printed it at Shapeways. It is amazing what some people can do with an iPad, a 3D printer and their imagination!
