Fall-Winter 2013-2014 Makeup Trends
As fall and winter are almost at our doorstep, we feel it’s time to give you some suggestions regarding the most popular makeup trends for the colder seasons, all inspired of course by the 2013/2014 runways of the most appreciated fashion houses in the world. As expected, some makeup choices showcased on the catwalks this year were either too eccentric or too complicated to be used on a daily basis, but there were also some more practical motifs that managed to stand out, so we decided to present them in detail.
1. Wine Colored Lips
The wine colored lips trend was highly popular this year with famous brands such as Anthony Vaccarello, Luis Vuitton, Vera Wang and Miu Miu, and it’s not difficult to understand why since this look has the potential to spice up and refresh your look completely.
2. Cat Eyes Makeup
If you enjoy using black eyeliner then you’ll be glad to know that you’re definitely going to need it this fall. Smokey cat eyes and cat eye makeup looks were the focal point of many high-end fashion houses including Anna Sui and Monique Lhullier. These fashion houses showcased a vintage 60s retro makeup routine on their runways this year, while more eccentric variations of the look were emphasized by Lanvin and Michael Kors.
3. 90s Grunge
We all know that 90s Grunge looks are mainly centered around dark lips and smoky eyes, but this year we’ve seen a plethora of grunge variations brought forth by some of the most respected fashion retailers in the world. For example, the Roberto Cavali 2013 line and the Saint Laurent fall 2013 collection were based entirely on the trend, providing us with great suggestions for the upcoming months.
Moreover, the likes of Genny, Givenchy, Rodarte and Gucci also encouraged a great variety of grunge looks based on prune shades, light gray or even deep orange.
4. Glitter and Metallics
Glitter elements and metallic accents are always a great choice if you’re going for a more pretentious and glamorous look. If you want some proper suggestions, we recommend you take a look at this year’s presentations from J. Mendel, Chanel or Donna Karan.
5. Natural and Minimal
If you’re comfortable enough with natural-looking and effortlessly elegant looks, you’ll definitely appreciate the makeup alternatives of Jill Stuart, Ralph Lauren or Temperley London. Take a leap of faith and go for a matte, natural makeup this fall!
6. Bold Colors
If you prefer to make a statement and be the center of attention each time you go out, we recommend you try to mimic the classy makeup looks featured in this year’s Dolce & Gabanna presentations. Furthermore, Tom Ford suggests exquisite purple eye makeup looks for this fall, while Jason Wu came up with an entire new makeup collection for Lancôme.
