Exquisite Mercedes-Benz 190 SL Roadster Sold By RM Auctions
The RM Auctions event that took place recently in Paris ensured that many classic automobiles found new owners in exchange for large sums of money. Out of the numerous vintage masterpieces that were put under the hammer by RM Auctions, this stunning Mercedes-Benz 190 SL Roadster from 1960 stood out thanks to its remarkable condition.
This particular model was created by Mercedes-Benz in order to provide a more affordable alternative to the beastly 300SL Roadster, which cost almost $11,000 during the 1950s and 1960s. By comparison, the 190SL came with a price tag of just $4000, while its 1897cc SOHC inline 4-cylinder engine ensured a power output of 120 horsepower – a very impressive achievement during those times. Other important details include a high-end front suspension featuring coil springs, 4-wheel drum brakes, a swing axle rear suspension boasting coil springs as well as a 4-speed manual gearbox.
This specific car was owned for 27 years by a medic who eventually sold it in 1990. The new owner made sure to restore the vehicle completely, which is why the car looks and drives so well so many years after its creation. This Mercedes-Benz 190 SL Roadster was auctioned off for €109.200 or approximately $148,000.
