Beautiful Dune Villa in The Netherlands
Designed by Hilberinkbosch Architects, this contemporary four-bedroom home in Utrecht, The Netherlands, is called Dune Villa. The plot is located in a pine forest, which has determined the owners to ask for a home that would take full advantage of its surroundings and seem like natural part of it.
The project also revolves around the fact that the site benefits from a 19.5-foot elevation given by a sand dune. Nature surrounds the house from every side: the street façade faces a dense vegetation, the front part of the house is connected to a large open area, and the back of the building leads into the pine forest.
The top floor holds the kitchen, living area, master bedroom, office, kitchen, library and the roof terrace, and is directly connected with the forest. On the ground level there are the guest bedrooms and the pool, and they are tucked safely into the dune.
We especially like the pool, because even though it is enclosed from three sides, the sliding glass doors keeps a sense of openness even during the cold seasons. The two levels of the house are tastefully decorated and effectively linked by a staircase and an enclosed elevator.
