Awesome X-Flight Roller Coaster in Gurnee, Illinois
X-Flight is a steel roller coaster that can be found within the Six Flags Great America theme park in Gurnee, Illinois. The ride was opened for the general public on May 16, 2012, and it has been providing memorable times of excitement and fun ever since. The roller coaster was sketched out and constructed by a Swiss company named Bolliger & Mabillard, who ensured it would meet and surpass all standards regarding safety and entertainment.
The X-Flight is actually a Wing Coaster, which means that its riders are seated on either sides of the train with absolutely no structure below or beneath them. This helps create a unique and thrilling sensation that is said to resemble “riding on the wing of a plane.”The ride is about 3,000 feet long, 120 feet high and lasts 1.15 minutes. The roller coaster operates using two trains made out of steel and fiberglass, each boasting 8 cars with 4 seats per car. Since its launch, this amazing attraction received plenty of feedback, most reviewers applauding its amazing series of loops, rolls, dives, flips and near misses.
One of the most important parts of the ride comes when the train looks like it is about to hit a fake control tower but instead flips over and goes right through it, an element widely known as the keyhole. If you are ever in Gurnee with your family, we strongly suggest giving this great ride a try.
