Abu Dhabi Louvre Project Will Be Set in Motion
After a delay of more than 3 years, The Abu Dhabi Louvre project has been set in motion. The purpose of the megamuseum is the development of the location as a global destination and to increase tourism. Given the magnitude of the project, many companies competed for it but was eventually assigned to Arab led venture Arabtec. The construction will begin as soon as possible and it is expected to be completed by 2015. The city allegedly paid $1.3 billion for rights to the “Louvre” name, the opinions regarding the fact that the renowned museum is selling out its name being quite divided in the French art world. The contract has an estimated price of $621 million.
